When basic necessities go up because of excess government tax or regulation, the poor pay a greater percentage of their income in these hidden taxes.  No one escapes.

Another big hidden tax is coming as gas prices rise.  It hits the poor in the gas tank.

The only poor people in America are the homeless and they don't have any money?  The people with roofs, air conditioning, telephones, big screen tvs should not be considered poor.  If those people are compared to the poor throughout the world, the real poor people would laugh in their faces.  The real poverty line should be below these people in America who are furnished with all the necessities.

All this means is more income so more can be dispersed to the Muslims and the guppies in America.  I said a long time ago telephones were coming.  Now I project car payment subsidies and gas stamps.

(WSJ) — President Obama’s 2013 budget is the gift that keeps on giving—to government. One buried surprise is his proposal to triple the tax rate on corporate dividends, which believe it or not is higher than in his previous budgets.

Mr. Obama is proposing to raise the dividend tax rate to the higher personal income tax rate of 39.6% that will kick in next year. Add in the planned phase-out of deductions and exemptions, and the rate hits 41%. Then add the 3.8% investment tax surcharge in ObamaCare, and the new dividend tax rate in 2013 would be 44.8%—nearly three times today’s 15% rate.

Keep in mind that dividends are paid to shareholders only after the corporation pays taxes on its profits. So assuming a maximum 35% corporate tax rate and a 44.8% dividend tax, the total tax on corporate earnings passed through as dividends would be 64.1%.

In previous budgets, Mr. Obama proposed an increase to 23.8% on both dividends and capital gains. That’s roughly a 60% increase in the tax on investments, but at least it would maintain parity between taxes on capital gains and dividends, a principle established as part of George W. Bush’s 2003 tax cut.

With the same rate on both forms of income, the tax code doesn’t bias corporate decisions on whether to retain and reinvest profits (and allow the earnings to be capitalized into the stock price), or distribute the money as dividends as they are earned.

We really can't control gas prices. We pay lip service to drilling more at home but there is a real reason why we had a GOP House, Senate, and Supreme Court at one point and didn't open up some of those areas for drilling and it is not the tree huggers.

You forgot Food Stamps so they don't have to spend much of their welfare checks on food..Just the necessary stuff like 24" rims and the like..

I may be wrong on Doc's use of gas stamp, however, my thinking of the use of gas stamps would be a form of rationing in order to allow one to purchase only a limited quantity.  This method itself would then bring on a whole new wad of problems in the long run.

You are correct.  I misspake.  There are no poor people in America.  I should have referred to the "lower end of the economic scale"

I'm not talking about rationing.  I'm talking about a Welfare Gas Stamp Office. :)

Okay.... lets try "misspoke"  As in I misspoke about using "misspake" in reference to those of us who are unfortunate to be diametricaly opposed to Warren Buffet in economic terms.

The high prices today are not the result of no supply, in fact, we have a surplus of gas available to the US. The prices today are because of what is going on in Iran, Libya et al., coupled with a great international demand...Think China and India...

 Coming sooner than later.

$6 Gallon Gas is Here

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote:
TAMPA (CBS Tampa) — Talk about pain at the pump! Some Florida drivers are spending nearly $6 a gallon to fill up their gas tanks.

According to GasBuddy.com, motorists are shelling out $5.89 for a gallon of regular gas at a Shell station in Lake Buena Vista, topping out at $5.99 a gallon for premium. It doesn’t get better at a Suncoast Energy station in Orlando, where drivers are paying $5.79 for a gallon of regular.
