Sweet Pea's Diner
« on: June 26, 2011, 08:37:35 AM »
Looks like Sweet Pea is turning sour.  A few weeks ago they advertised Friday and Saturday night dining.   Wife and I were to tired to cook so tried to get something local.  Went to Sweet Pea at 6pm.  Big sign CLOSED... !    Are they still open for lunch?

The grass is always greener over the septic tank.

No hope for Sweet Pea's.   We tried one more time to give them business -- this time on a Friday, since they are no longer open on Saturday.  We went in and ordered the Shrimp and Grits special.  Then we realized it was very warm and there were fans everywhere.  When we asked about the A/C were told it was broken....  We told them to hold our order and we left... it must have been 89 degrees there.

Not good Sweet Pea, no body was there working on it.

Several of the businesses in that strip are having AC issues.  For example, try to dance in that dance studio with AC half a s s running with fans as backup.  On top of that you have umpteen girls/guys in there at any one time.

Not good for any of the businesses in that area.  Landlord must be dragging his butt, maybe other issues, who knows.

However, I agree that a food establishment at that location is really not a good idea.  No parking, half a s s AC, etc.

Has anyone actually got to experience their fine dining?

I have ate there. Food is really good. The hamburgers are tasty and have a garlic mayo and a bun that is really good. I hope they can have the A/C problem fixed, I was there last week for lunch and it was comfortable, a lil warm, but okay. Owner always comes out to dining room and talks to ya, good personal touch. Hope they make it!!!!!

I doubt they could support the cost of a liquor license closing at 2pm.   If you are not open at Beer Thirty, you are out of luck.

I think they may be located within 200 feet of the First Baptist Church, which would make them ineligible to sell alcohol of any type.

Ate breakfast at Sweet Pea's this morning. Steak fajita omelet (slices of New York strip, onions, mushrooms, jalapenos and cheddar cheese, hash-browns, toast and drink $7.25. Big breakfast and great tasting!!! We enjoyed it very much.
