used to go with my Grandma on Magazine St. to pick out a hen to cook in her chicken stew.  Everything was fresh which made it a lot tastier.

Used to do the same thing on Dryades when we lived on Carondelet.Picked out the live chicken, they'd kill and clean it.Took it home for Mama to make Gumbo.

Not so fast....   I make a killer Gumbo.   Chicken and Andouille or smoke sausage, or a shrimp and crab seafood gumbo.   But, I have had a hard time trying to buy a bowl of gumbo in Picayune.  Not gonna happen I think.

Ticks me off when I go there without a plan and they're  closed.Usually wind up at Frankie & Johnny's then. But Frankie's not the same since the Morrealle Family hasn't ran it in many years.

Meaux's is slowly but surely moving on up, one step at a time, and getting better each time I visit.  Must be, can't find a place to park most of the lunch time, there are more employees and even has his own Meaux's seasoning.  Keep up the good job!!!!!!!!!!!  Maybe one day Meaux's can establish a place where the other two NO natives that highjack the topics on here used to go or still do.  Yea ya right!!
