Legalizing Weed.
« on: July 30, 2011, 11:03:57 PM »
As most of you on this board know, I am very conservative on all issues but one. I think that is time for this country to end the war on drugs, and legalize weed. After reading the latest arrests made in and around Picayune for the sale of drugs I thought this would be a good place to post this. I have smoked weed in my younger days and wouldn't mind doing it again if not for the fear of losing my job or being arrested. Yet we can sell and consume a drug with no fear at all that has caused more hearache than weed ever has.... alcohol. It's time for the war to end.

we I was growing up in the 40,50s.60s MJ was considered as bad if not worst than heroin so I stayed clear of it  Beer was my choice of drugs..Then I got married and wifey keeps me on straight and narrow. She's just now letting me keep beer in my fridge in my man cave and we've been married over 45 yrs..But I do think Government has gone overboard on chasing down potheads and locking them up for 20 yrs.

BTW neither me or Jimmy won powerball..nobody did..

Tide, I agree.  I never smoked, but am not in favor of fighting a war we never win --the drug war.  Also agree that alcohol does more damage than weed.  If we legalized it, the hills of mississippi would be full of a great cash crop, it would stop the flow of $$$ to Mexico, and end the border wars and violence.  The time has come.

Plus you can make bio gas out of the stalks and run the electric power plants.

I can see it now a school bus driver going down the road with a bus load of children smoking pot.  Hell no I'm not in favor of legalizing Pot.

No worse than a school bus driver going down the road drunk.  Decriminalizing pot does not mean it would not be a DUI.

We have had many pot debates on the forum in the past. I'm with you on this, it is a costly never ending war they will never win. We are criminalizing otherwise normal productive good people over pot. And it is costing tax payers billions a year to fund the war and house the incarcerated over this. Pot is the lesser of the evil when it comes to alcohol. Alcohol has ruined more lives than most of the illegal drugs combined. Most of us know what the pot craze was when this war was started. It was about racism pure and simple. We also have discussed the medicinal values of pot compared to the cons. All in all it should be legalized to an extent. I would be smoking right now if it was legal, i loved pot. It is not as bad for you as alcohol and cigarettes yet they are legal. Never heard anyone say they smoked a joint and went home and beat their wife and kids, or wrecked and killed anyone from smoking it. It is always alcohol or the harder drugs and pills. The war on pot was started illegally and unconstitutionally also. They never followed the rules in determining and making a drug illegal when it came to pot. People should know the truth before jumping in the witch hunt on something like this.

In MS they have decriminalized pot some but are still tossing people in jail when they could simply give them a ticket for it. We know it is all about money and keeping the jail population up for the funds.
