Wonder if new Apple place will be challenged by  RSL church?? or does the city think that storefront church is really a church. Sycamore is a long way from top of hill where JD's is located..At least 1/2 mile?

Applebee's already has their permit, or they would not have built.  Large corporations don't fumble on a deal like that.

The church on Sycamore doesn't have "standing" in a case against Joyce and Darnell's since the church isn't in the city. Joyce and Darnell's can't be denied unless they have a pending or prior legal problem since they are asking for a permit to conduct "legal busniess" by way of selling alcohol with food.
If I agreed with you, we would both be wrong.

My city councilman told me that the law had been changed from 500 feet to 200 feet from church or school.    Guess they figure that people are too lazy these days to leave church and walk 200 feet to get a drink between hymns.  Plus we certainly don't want to see teachers getting drunk on their smoke breaks.

Are you referring to the time when a customer brought their own wine to dine and J&D got in trouble...that was so long ago I wouldn't think that would be in the picture.  The church is not in the city, but could it be possible, that the church owns the house right next to the empty dirt lot, across the street from that mall?  Making it closer?

We had dinner there tonight, was so good.  We don't get out much, that was the best we have had in a very long time.  Was hubby's birthday.  Good place to go, for special evenings.

A man's faith must be weak if he can't get within 200 feet of a bottle of beer without becoming a roaring drunk.

Jesus drank beer.  The doctrine of not drinking is legalism.  It came out of the American temperance movement.  Before Dr. Welch discovered how to pasturize grape juice, all churches had no choice but to serve wine at communion.  Grape juice contains natual yeast and will ferment unless pasturized.
