Lack of North side Eateries
« on: December 20, 2011, 10:00:09 AM »
It surprises me the lack of franchised eateries on that end of town.  I thought for sure that a Wendy's or BK would have opened next to McDonalds.  Hwy 11 diner is a nice addition, decent food at decent prices.  Fatboy's is coming back, Hospital is coming.  People living in Hideaway and Carriere have to drive to the South side of town for any fastfood.  I know it is expensive for families to eat out, a family of 4 can easily reach $35.00 at McDonald's.  Me, being single, it is actually less expensive for me to eat most of my meals out.  Thank goodness for Claiborne Hills for their hot meals, fried chicken, and cat fish.  Hopefully, with Applebee's opening, many more will come; Chili's, Backyard Burgers, Taco Tico , etc...............

It's going to a lot when the hospital gets going.  Gotta fix the road first.

I like the prison restaurant where the cocktails are called lethal injections...

There will be a new place where the old shrimp shack was by the new hospital. Will be run by a guy from the parish and his family. Should be good.

How does that Mexican restaurant compare to the one off of Mem. Blvd?  I heard the one off Hwy 11 was better.

Tony's was excellent before the storm.......I have eaten there once since Katrina, and it wasn't as good. They used to have the best roast beef po boys in my opinion.

I think Greg is correct and I believe that the same family owns the one in PV.

I have also heard that both are owned by the same family, but don't know that sure. I like the one off hwy 11 better.

That's always been so funny to me-owned by the same family, yet most people favor the one on HWY 11-go figure! :)
