The What and Where on Favorite Foods
« on: December 20, 2011, 10:11:03 AM »
What is the best and where did you get it.   No matter what kind and no matter where you got.

My best ever selections:
Shrimp poboy --   Don's Seafood, Picayune
Roast Beef    --    Parkway Bakery, NOLA; FrostTop, Picayune
Burgers --------    Bud's Broiler; Betty K's

I'll think of other foods as the list grows.

Rib eye steak, calf fries and fried rattlesnake at the Big Texan!

Chicken fried steak with white gravy and fries that covered an oval serving plate at the Country Pride/Wintergreens.

Mexican food, any and all, Fat Maria's in Houston.  Also, Mexican food on the side of the road just about anywhere off the main path in New Mexico.  If you find a gas station that still sells regular gasoline, then the good Mexican food is not far away.

Deep fried deer back strap, in the woods on a freezing cold morning at camp, after loosing motor prop in the river just as we pull up to camp.

BBQ everything,  from the little red smokehouse (pulled behind a truck), Bay City.

Mi Tiarro at the marcado in San Antone was nice, but the other restaurant at the mercado was better, IMO. :)

Now you are talking about my neighborhood.  There was a drug store around the corner on Dreux street called Hemstreet Pharmacy.  As a kid, I worked in the school lunch room and got a free lunch.  Mom, gave me the 15 cents anyway,  I saved it an bought my first Kodak Brownie camera at Hemstreets.  That ultimately led to me becoming a professional photographer (and thousands spent on Hasselblads and Nikons)....  Teddy's came later, but was great.  A few doors down from Teddy's was The Bakery....  They had great sandwiches too.

All the above with  Limburger on rye.  Makes for a interesting hour long carpool the next morning.  If your vehicle has suicide doors on it or the electric windows are broke, makes it even more fun.

Can't remember the Bar name, but it was in NO.
